Tiger Woods’ Son Is About To Attempt To Make Huge Career Step
ERIC HASERT/TCPALM / USA TODAY NETWORK

Charlie Woods, son of the legendary Tiger Woods, is poised to carve his own legacy in the annals of the US Open.

This Thursday, the 15-year-old will take to the course in Port St. Lucie, Florida, joining an 84-player lineup competing for a coveted spot in the 124th edition of this prestigious major championship.

The battleground for this initial qualifier is The Legacy Golf and Tennis Club, where only the top five finishers will progress to the next stage – famously known as ‘Golf’s Longest Day’. This phase unfolds across 10 US locations and three international venues throughout May and June.

Success here means advancing to Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in North Carolina on June 13, rubbing shoulders with the elite cadre of golfers, including reigning champion Wyndham Clark and the top 50 players worldwide already exempted for the event.

Charlie’s journey to this juncture includes his recent participation in the Cognizant Classic pre-qualifier back in February, where he encountered the rigors of tour-level competition at Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida. Although falling short then, his resolve remains undeterred.

Among the sea of aspirants vying for a ticket to Pinehurst, Charlie stands out as one of the youngest, alongside 12-year-old Beck Patrick from Houston, Texas.

Conversely, 74-year-old Keith Crimp from Washington represents the seasoned veterans in this diverse field of over 10,000 entrants, spanning every corner of the United States and 70 foreign nations.

For Tiger Woods, this tournament holds special significance, having etched his name in golfing lore with a staggering 15 major championship victories, including three US Open triumphs. While his recent absence due to injury deprived him of the chance to compete last year, the memories of his historic dominance, notably his record-breaking 15-stroke victory at Pebble Beach in 2000, continue to resonate within the sport.

As Charlie Woods embarks on his quest, the golfing world awaits with bated breath, eager to witness the emergence of a new chapter in this storied family legacy. Should he defy the odds and secure a berth at Pinehurst, it would mark a monumental stride forward in his burgeoning golfing journey.
